I know it’s only half way through November, and we’ve only recently heard the echoes of fireworks, but recently I’ve actually felt really festive.
Something about the sharp coldness in weather, or the smell of the air has sparked the Christmas spirit in me (over a month early, may I add). This was helped along by an event I attended at Debenhams in Eldon Square.
I was invited to attend this event by the wonderful Laura from Ellefluence, a platform designed to help bloggers and brands connect (I go into more detail about Ellefluence in my JMB X UD post). This event was purely for celebrating and promoting Too Faced’s brand new Christmas Collection for 2017.
Before I go on to talk about the products, I just want to disclaim that these are my own personal opinions which have not been, nor ever will be swayed by anyone else. I was incredibly lucky to be invited to this event, but truthfulness is incredibly important to me and is what I aspire to be in every post I write.
As I walked to the Too Faced area in my local Debenhams, I was greeted by the lovely Michael, who I have met a few times before. He handed me a glass of prosecco and I got talking to some other lovely bloggers while we waited for the event to begin.
This was a very intimate event, which was actually really nice. There was only about 15 or so bloggers attending, so we really felt included during the demonstration.
As the event began, we took our seats and I know I was not the only girl dying to know what was in our complimentary gift bag…
To officially begin the event, Michael started by introducing the two beautiful gift sets in stock at Debenhams. These were; The Best Year Ever set, and the Pretty Little Planner set. Unfortunately, there are more Too Faced Christmas 2017 sets on the market, but as I believe the rest are Sephora exclusive, they are not able to purchase either in-store or online at Debenhams.
During the course of this event, we learned a lot about these two gift sets and the inspiration behind them.
The Pretty Little Planner is the smaller of the two gift sets available, retailing at a reasonable £34. The set includes: a 15 pan eye-shadow palette, a deluxe sample of the Better Than Sex mascara and a leather-backed planner for 2018.
Luckily for us, Michael had testers of the products for us to play with, and at first glance, the palette included in this set was too pretty to resist swatching.
I have to say, I was really impressed with the shade range of the eye-shadows. It is unlike anything Too Faced has ever came out with before, and the shades seem to fit the theme of Christmas perfectly.
The quality of the eye-shadows was also phenomenal; they were buttery and pigmented and although I can only talk about my experience swatching with my finger, there appeared to be hardly any product kick-up.
I love love LOVE that this set included a planner for 2018, it is a really unique and handy idea that I feel a lot of makeup lovers will not only enjoy, but also benefit from. The additional element of the tailor-made stickers specific to the brand also show how much effort went into making this holiday collection, and i’m sorry, but any sticker with cutesie little Clover on belongs with me.
The Best Year Ever gift set is also incredible and highly worthy of its praise. The more expensive set out of the two, it includes three mini eye-shadow palettes, a deluxe sample of Better Than Sex mascara and a funky limited edition makeup bag. It retails for £46, but in my opinion that is still a decent price considering how much product is included.
What I particularly love about this set, is that the three different eye-shadow palettes are perfectly colour themed, which makes it soooo easy to create different looks!
Included in each mini eye-shadow palette, is 6 eye-shadows in a mixture of matte, shimmer and glitter finishes and a face product.
- Super Fun Night – 6 shadows and a highlighter
- Natural Beauty – 6 shadows and a bronzer
- I Believe In Pink – 6 shadows and a blush
All of the eye-shadows included within this holiday collection are of course infused with Too Faced’s signature cocoa powder formula. Apparently, the inspiration behind this formula came to Jerrod Blandino while getting a facial on holiday; he learned all of the benefits chocolate and cocoa can have on your skin, and wanted to give his customers the best quality and ingredients possible!
To round off the event, Michael demonstrated a beautiful look on another of the bloggers, and it was fantastic to see the products in action. They really appeared to work as well as I had hoped, and although I have not tried them out on myself, they looked amazing when used on the skin and eyes.
All in all, this collection was a complete HIT for me. I was incredibly impressed with the formula of the products, and the packaging and presentation is some of the best I have ever seen. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about, and swatching all of these beautiful products and the event was a great experience to be a part of!
